A Dickens of a Christmas
Last night was the kick-off parade of the season's "A Dickens of a Christmas" theme here in Eureka Springs. Although it was pretty cold, the parade was awesome!! There were about ten floats, two marching bands, about a dozen classic cars, and lots of people dressed in Victorian-era outfits in the parade. I was impressed with the quality of the floats they put together. They were all very professional and had good themes with music playing and animatronics, etc. Thank goodness, it wasn't just a bunch of rolling advertisements for businesses that you see so much in the parades today...
Of course, the kids always love the parades because they throw candy from the floats. This time, some were actually throwing teddy bears off the floats. Neither of my kids got one, which is fine with me (we have too many already!). One thing that did annoy us was this kid next to us who was older than my kids, but he was hogging all the candy and treats. He would actually dive out in front of us to get the candy in the road. The worst part was that his mother was with him and she didn't say anything to him! When my daughter told me that he was getting all their candy, I said, "Don't worry, he'll get all the cavities too."
So overall, we had a great time and will definitely plan to attend the Christmas Parade every year from now on!
