Attraction review: Onyx Cave

Last week we discovered yet another "free for locals" attraction here in Eureka Springs: Onyx Cave. We enjoyed it very much. It is the perfect length for kids, since it takes 30 to 45 minutes to explore the whole cave. The kids were amazed and had a great time. Also, the path through the cave is fenced on both sides, paved and easy to walk on - so you're not worried about your toddler slipping over the edge. My husbands parents and grandmother (86 yrs old) were with us and had no trouble getting around down there.

It is a self-guided tour and they give each person a pair of headphones before entering the cave. There are 8 check-points with a button to push, a voice comes on the headphones explaining all the natural wonders of the cave, and lights come on to spotlight the area they are talking about. It was very educational and a great family outing. I highly recommend it for all ages!
