Freelance marketplace

My husband has been handing out business cards locally and posting them on bulletin boards at the library and grocery store, in the hopes of picking up some Web Design work here in town. There are also online freelance marketplaces that connect service providers with customers. Customers post projects and their budget, then service providers bid on the projects.

Elance has been around for ten years, so they are well known among freelancers. Case in point: there are 76,895 service providers in all categories. This is quite daunting for someone looking for work, but you have to consider that many of these provider's profiles could be out-of-date or no longer active. If you check the site often and make bids for many projects, you will probably get a decent amount of freelance work. This site is not just for web designers, there are projects listed for a wide range of professionals including programmers, designers, writers and business consultants. Project tasks may include business plan writing, legal representation, cold calling, data entry, designing logos, brochures, and corporate identity packages.

Whatever your forte, chances are you can find a project listed at Elance to bid on and make some money.
