Fakers

I've never been to New York, but I have heard of all the "fake" designer brand merchandise that is sold there. Even the fakes have pretty high price tags, if you ask me. The most popular items are replica watches and purses or handbags. I say, if no one can tell the difference, you might as well save some money and go with the cheaper one. Maybe the designers will get a clue and lower their prices a bit to compete.

Then again, who am I kidding? Designers will always get their full prices from celebrities and the super-rich.

What to wear

Now that I am "thirty-something" I don't feel the need to impress people with my wardrobe. I just wear what is comfortable, but doesn't make me look like a slob. I was never too much into being fashionable, and usually stuck with classics like jeans, t-shirts, and button-up shirts. The only times I remember worrying about my outfit was when my husband and I would go dancing at nightclubs in college.

The nightclubs we went to were pretty much fashion shows in themselves, with extravagant outfits including thigh high boots, leather, vinyl, and electrical tape. We never went quite that far, but I wore some outfits to nightclubs that I couldn't imagine wearing anywhere else. It was fun at the time, but we are beyond all that now.

Kind-hearted fashion

The story of Peter Belisi and Belisi Fashions is very inspiring. Peter started as a bartender in Palm Beach, struggling to provide for his family. He served the people he admired, the rich and successful. He was searching for an "edge" to start his own company. So, with any extra money he had from bartending, he invested in a tie collection. He took pride in never wearing the same tie twice, and his clients began to look to him for inspiration. His idea for Belisi Fashions started with his appreciation for fine ties.

Belisi started selling high-end quality ties, and now offers scarves and handbags as well. They strive to create luxury with meaning and want to give back to society. According to their web release, "Belisi stands for good living: great style, quality accessories and giving back to the community."
