Town shut down

With the snow that started yesterday morning and continued all day and night, we have accumulated about 5 inches. The entire town is shut down. All schools are closed, most stores are closed, and probably restaurants will be closed too. I guess it's kind of nice that no one is expected to drive anywhere in this weather. I'm just not used to it since in Colorado, they only shut the town down when there is over two feet of snow. Otherwise, it's expected to be business as usual.

The main reason Eureka shuts down with any sign of snow is the potential of ice and every road in town is sloped to some degree. Some roads are so steep that they are scary to drive on - even in warm dry weather. I suspect the neighborhood kids will be out any minute with their sleds and "snowboards." (they are actually skateboards with the wheels removed) Too bad my daughter is sick, or we would go sledding too!
